it's a long way to washington and back [ 17 May 2004, 2:12 p.m. ]

i've been away for awhile. well, mentally and physically i guess you could say. i've been here and there and in varying degrees of wholeness.

this season has been a tough one. i hurt my shoulder for preseason. broke a finger in our first game. sprained my ankle. twice. also in the first game. we lost to our rivals even though it was close. and i sprained my hand. we geared up for playoffs and i busted my eye open during practice. 17 stitches, countless advil and 4 hours to new york later, i couldn't play. i watched, heartbroken, as we lost to our rivals. again. and didn't make the national tournament. we rebounded our morale with a tight win over a canadian team. in washington. i got to make the winning kick. but i was too preoccupied with my bleeding eye to enjoy it. i was out again. and i had to watch two friends break their legs in the next game. unreal.

the weekends and practices have continued. i'm ready to be at full strength again. this weekend is it. we face our rivals for the third time. that's the charm, right?
